EPICC investigates global value chains originating in three biodiversity-rich countries (Brazil, Colombia and Indonesia) and ending in the European market. The aim of the project is to identify the actors who have the power and resources at different levels of governance/behavioural management (local, national, international) to enable a change towards sustainable production. Furthermore, aspects of the actors' participation in decision-making processes (procedural justice), the distribution of goods and of rights and duties (distributive justice) and the recognition of different conceptualizations and values in human-nature relations are to be analysed. The project team is collaborating with key actors such as small producers, workers, companies and governments. The overall aim is to contribute to improving the ecological and social impacts at the selected production sites. In this way, the project makes a significant contribution to answering the question of how to effectively address environmental challenges while ensuring the capacity of local communities to adapt, influence and redirect policy. The project thus also contributes to achieving the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
EPICC

Lund University, Center for Sustainability Studies (LUCSUS), Schweden

Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Department of Geography (NTNU), Norwegen

Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Department of Rural Development, Brasilien

Universidade Federal Fluminense, Faculty of Ecnomics (UFF), Brasilien

Universitas Gadjah Mada, Department of Politics and Government (DPP UGM), Indonesien

University of Antwerp, Faculty of Law, Belgien

BiodivERsA/BiodivClim

BMBF-Verbundprojekte

VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH

Ferrando, Tomaso, Prof. Dr.

Garcia-Alarcon, Gisele, Dr.

Kolinjivadi, Vijay, Dr.

Krause, Torsten, Dr.

Kurniawan, Nanang Indra, Dr.

Muradian, Roldan, Prof. Dr.

Stale Angen, Rye, Prof. Dr.

Van Hecken, Gert, Prof. Dr.

Vela Almeida, Diana, Dr.

Wanderley, Luiz, Dr.
