SUSTAINCrop geht über die bloße Bereitstellung von Instrumenten und Datensätzen hinaus und zielt darauf ab, einen EU-Referenzrahmen für Kriterien der ökologischen Nachhaltigkeit landwirtschaftlicher Kulturen in der biobasierten Industrie zu schaffen, der als Maßstab für politische Entscheidungsträger, Industrieakteure und Zertifizierungsstellen dient. Das Projekt strebt an, Einfluss auf die EU-Taxonomie-Verordnung zu nehmen und die Umsetzung der Prinzipien „Safe and Sustainable by Design“ (SSbD) aktiv zu unterstützen.
