In the
field of agriculture, Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) and land-use-based management are recognized as core
approaches to climate adaptation and mitigation for sustainable rural development. However, gendered
disparities in resource allocations and control limit women's ability to make use of climate change adaptation
practices, making them more vulnerable to climate change. Additionally, there is evidence that climate-smart
agriculture technologies and practices include previously existing and indigenous farming techniques that
have been rebranded and are being promoted by international and local agricultural stakeholders. Therefore,
the role of these indigenous and traditional farming practices warrants recognition in climate change research
and policy discourse.<br>Based on the foregoing, the project seeks to mainstream indigenous knowledge and women's empowerment for climate change adaptation by:<br>(i) identifying and establishing a typology of climate change adaptation practices with an emphasis on Indigenous and local-driven (ILK) practices while accounting for male-female sensitivities,<br>(ii) identifying the dimensions of women's empowerment in agriculture that can strengthen women's adaptive
