Research Platform "Data Analysis & Simulation"

For agricultural landscape research, extensive landscape data must be generated, analysed and made available. Innovative developments in other research areas in the generation of spatial data (e.g. proximal and remote sensing) and in the analysis and processing of large data sets (e.g. big data approaches) also offer excellent opportunities for agricultural landscape research to systematically use ever larger data sets and to integrate them optimally into relevant research programmes. In addition, numerical modelling and simulation is a central component of research. At ZALF, the interactive and simple use of models and methods for the analysis of processes in agricultural landscapes is a particular focus. The research platform "FDS" develops a coherent concept for the integration of data, models and simulation methods for landscape research, from technical solutions to a landscape theory.

Our Working Groups

 

In addition to the methodological topics, research activities in the Research Platform are mainly linked to two UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG; UN 2015), which are also addressed in the German Sustainable Development Strategy (2016): Zero Hunger (SDG 2) and Climate Action (SDG 13).
