Research data includes all data generated in the scientific work process. They can be created e.g. by digitization, source research, field experiments, laboratory measurements, polls, simulations or surveys and are described by metadata.
Research data can be published as a data paper (similar to a conventional paper) in a specialized data journal. As a rule, the data must be already in a qualified repository.
Research data can be published in a data repository. In our repository data is provided with an DOI. That makes data unique and citable. The publication of research data is required by the research funding institutions (DFG, BMBF etc.), it makes research visible and reusable in the long term and can be the basis for data publication.
The process that leads to the long-term (re)usability of research data. RDM makes your research visible and your data findable and reusable in the long term.
The life cycle includes: planning, collection, processing, storage, publication, archiving and (re)use. Important methods and procedures are: Description with metadata and quality assurance.
Among other things, the DMP contains the methods and procedures as well as actors who are involved in the entire research data management. Important information from the DMP can be part of the metadata. A DMP should be created at the beginning of the research process, e.g. at the start of a project, and is sometimes required by funding agencies. We will gladly assist you with the creation of your DMP and provide DMP templates for the following funding agencies: DFG. These already contain a lot of relevant information about the ZALF data management and have to be adapted by you to the specific project conditions.
