At the national level, particularly close collaborations through joint and extracurricular professorships are established with the following universities: University of Potsdam, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, Leibniz University of Hannover, Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development, Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg and the University of Bonn.
In addition to the institutions mentioned above, ZALF also cooperates closely with the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin), the Justus Liebig University of Giessen, the University of Kassel, the University of Rostock, the Christian Albrechts University of Kiel (CAU), and the University of Hohenheim within the framework of numerous projects.
ZALF also maintains strategic cooperation agreements with many non-university research partners and is active in joint projects, such as the Julius Kühn Institute (JKI), the Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute (TI), the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research and the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam - German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).
