It is the strategic aim of the working group Landscape Pedology (SoilScape) to develop an improved understanding of the dynamics and functionality of soil landscapes. This will be achieved through a joint analysis of soil processes / functions and structures across scales - from the micro to the landscape scale. We combine experimental approaches, long-term measurements, modelling and continuous method development, to unravel landscape-scale carbon and nutrient dynamics, feedback mechanisms of soil erosion (e. g. wind), the long-term dynamics of soil landscapes and their impact on soil fertility.
