Efficient controlling and reporting systems as well as publishing infrastructures are based on standardized collection of information about research activities. We follow the recommendations of the Wissenschaftsrat about the Core Data Set on Research Activities and the requirements that emerge from the research at ZALF to make research output and context comparable, consistent and quality checked. Our vision is an infrastructure of cross-linked research information, based on core data sets, context and semantic web.
We design, implement and develop .Net, SharePoint and SQL Server based system environments for project collaboration, web presentation and research supporting platforms. We provide repositories as well as content- and document management systems for data- and information management and we assist in internet domain and webspace acquisition and maintenance.

Our ZALF open-research-data repository, targeting landscape research data, has been registered with Thomson Reuters Web of Science in 2015.
We promote automated notification services to improve the efficiency of communication and collaboration. Also, the objective is to reduce the effort for science peripheral management tasks and in this way increase employee satisfaction. For example, automated notification systems are being used for monitoring the life cycle of research projects and employment as well as for order and registration systems, facility management, event management and car reservation.
