Areas of work

The Research Information Systems department designs and maintains research environments that support processing, registering, linking, publishing and archiving of research results such as data and publication and ensures integration with document management and reporting systems. A specialized team with expertise in the fields of information technology, landscape research, data management and geographic information systems (GIS) provides research assistance and support.

Objectives

Successful research support by offering excellent services and training.
Ensure good scientific practice.
Improve visibility and reuse of research data.
Minimizing the effort for administrative tasks.
Efficient communication and collaboration through implementing automated processes and notification systems

Concept

The scope, complexity and context of digital research output and management data requires the efficient integration of multiple systems of research support. Also, close cooperation between researchers, service personal and management staff is needed to efficiently generate, process, quality control, publish and market high-quality research data.

The department provides services to various user groups and stakeholders through all phases of the research process. FIS ensures the transfer of high-quality management data and research findings into the institutional and public domain. Increased requirements for documentation, reporting and publishing systems are tackled by bundling expertise from all research supporting units at ZALF.
