The aim of ISO-SCALE is to achieve a novel integrated, cross-compartmental (i.e. across the critical zone) and cross-scale (10-2m2-108m2&#160;) understanding of the partitioning of incoming precipitation in crop systems and its spatio-temporal dynamics. With a focus on vegetation mediated SPAC feedbacks, we will predominantly investigate temporal dynamics and spatial variability in ecosystem evapotranspiration, soil evaporation, plant transpiration, soil water distribution and root water uptake. ISO-SCALE will deliver a novel tool for high frequency cross scale water partitioning within the SPAC making use of the unprecedented opportunities presented by advances in stable water isotopes, artificial intelligence and physically-based modelling approaches combining the expertise of an interdisciplinary project team. The integrated combination of approaches will yield a versatile modeling framework, transferable to ecosystems and landscapes with a lesser state of experimental instrumentation. Due to the tight link between water cycling and crop yield, this will significantly help to assess and reduce risks by climatic extremes and hydrological perturbations to crop yield and inform agricultural practics such as precision-farming or focused irrigation.<br></p></div> ISO-SCALE <div class="ExternalClass27805CDD-5630-403A-971B-A4F01D50C429"></div> <div class="ExternalClass070FB7A8-226C-429B-9A4B-CF47DDEDF64B"><ul><li>Leibniz-Institut für Gewässerökologie und Binnenfischerei</li><li>Universität Göttingen</li></ul></div> <div class="ExternalClass21023BC6-5FA8-41E4-885E-11DCC350B9EB"><ul><li>Leibnizgemeinschaft/SAW</li></ul></div> <div class="ExternalClass5A17045B-38C1-46D7-B3A2-565D0B028897"><ul><li>Leibniz-Gemeinschaft</li></ul></div> <div class="ExternalClass6AFADA67-E48B-43C6-973D-5113270B70FC"><ul><li>Knohl, Alexander, Prof. Dr.</li><li>Tetzlaff, Doerthe, Prof. Dr.</li></ul></div><div class="ExternalClass4CA8143035154C7ABB1524F3B63693DB"><p>Das Ziel von ISO-SCALE ist es, ein neuartiges integriertes, kompartimentübergreifenden (d. h.
