The third episode of the querFELDein podcast is online. In the conversation with Prof. Dr. Ralf Bloch, Professor of Agroecology and Sustainable Cultivation Systems at the University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde and Dr. Roger Funk, Graduate Agricultural Engineer at the Leibniz-Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF), this time the topic is the connection between agriculture and forestry.
Trees in the field - at first glance, that sounds like a problem for farmers, because machines have to drive around them, nothing can be grown on the land, and the plants in the area may even lack sunlight. Why are so-called agroforestry systems - i.e. combinations of agriculture and forestry - nevertheless once again in vogue in many countries? What are the benefits associated with them? And why can these farming systems in particular perhaps help to address many of the challenges we are currently facing in agriculture? We talk about these issues with Prof. Dr. Ralf Bloch, Professor of Agroecology and Sustainable Cropping Systems at the University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde, and Dr. Roger Funk, Graduate Agricultural Engineer at the Leibniz-Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF).
