Improving the efficiency of resource-use is a central topic in agricultural research with strong implications for global food provision and the protection of natural habitats and resources. However, higher efficiencies may cause so called "rebound effects" that offset part or all of the potential resource savings.
The present publication is the first to systematically review the state of knowledge on rebound effects in agriculture and to present a framework for their assessment. The complete article has been published in the Journal of Cleaner Production, Vol. 227 (2019).
