What is sustainability in science? How to integrate responsible research with the paradigm of freedom or research? What ethical aspects need to be considered? Such questions were addressed at the 4th ‘research for sustainable development’ SISI Symposium in Munich, Germany, 17th July.
ZALF together with Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS), Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI), and Humboldt University Berlin organized a workshop about how socially responsible research processes may enrich the discourse about scientific excellence. The discussion could build upon the
reflection framework on socially responsible research conduct published in 2016.
