Agricultural Systems of the Future Summit

On September 27-28, 2023, the first "Agricultural Systems of the Future Summit" will take place. The international conference will be held on the topic of transformation to sustainability in the agricultural and food industry.

The first "Agricultural Summit of the Future" will take place at the Archenhold Observatory in Berlin. The international conference is organized by the BMBF funding line „Agricultural Systems of the Future“. International experts from science, business and agribusiness will discuss new perspectives for the transformation of agricultural and food systems towards sustainability. The main topics will be integrative indoor production systems, new forms of circular economy, the potential of digitalization as a key to sustainable and effective agricultural systems, and the need for technological and social change as a basis for the implementation of sustainable agricultural and food systems.

International networking for agricultural system transformation

The aim of the conference is to present research-based new solutions for current challenges in agriculture and food, and at the same time to strengthen the national network of experts in agricultural science and agricultural economics in order to gain more visibility and influence in the international research community. An important part of the "Agricultural Systems of the Future Summit 2023" is therefore the embedding of German activities in international policy and international research strategies for the transformation of agricultural systems.

In addition to presentations and posters, highlights of the event will include a panel discussion on "FOODture (retro)perspective in the context of bioeconomy" and keynote speeches by Prof. Dr. Harald Grethe (Professor of International Agricultural Trade and Development, Humboldt University Berlin) who will open the Summit, and Prof. Dr. Christine Lang (International Advisory Council on Global Bioeconomy, Professor of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, Technische Universität Berlin).

Journalists and members of the press are invited to accredit. The congress will be held in English and there is no registration fee.
