Digitalisierung in der Landwirtschaft

On September 1, 2022, the European Coordination and Support Action "Digitalization for Agroecology (D4AgEcol)" will start. Together with eleven partners, "D4AgEcol" aims to demonstrate the potential of digitalization as an enabler for agroecological farming systems in Europe with a strong focus on existing knowledge and the co-innovation capacity of actors and stakeholders.

The consortium covers a wide spectrum of pedoclimatic zones in Europe. This refers to regions that are relatively homogeneous in terms of climate and soil. The project partners will assemble a holistic evaluation of digital tools and technologies. This means that both environmental aspects (in the form of agroecological indicators), economic considerations, and the perceived benefits of digital tools among users and stakeholders are taken into account in the research. Drivers, barriers and risks of digital technologies for a transformation to agroecology will also be identified. The results of this analysis will feed in national and European roadmaps for agroecology, indicating the need for adjusted policies and a technology research and innovation agenda.

ZALF will contribute to “D4AgEcol” by selecting and defining suitable indicators reflecting the “10 elements of agroecology”. The indicators will be adjusted with regard to the assessment of digitalisation, digital tools or technologies. Based on the indicators, a checklist will be elaborated with which the indicators can be practically described and collected.
