Marijn van der Meij graduated with distinction

Marijn van der Meij defended his dissertation on 19.11.2020 on "Co-evolution of soils and landscapes in the Anthropocene - from natural to intensively managed landscapes" at Wageningen University (NL) with distinction.

. Marijn van der Meij was a PhD student in the working group "Landscape Pedology" of research area 1 "Landscape Functioning" from 2015-2019. During this time he was jointly supervised by Prof. Dr. Michael Sommer, Prof. Dr. Jakob Wallinga (Wageningen, NL) and Prof. Dr. Arnaud Temme (Kansas State University, USA). In his work, Marijn van der Meij developed not only novel methodological approaches to reconstruct historical erosion/deposition rates (CarboZALF area in "AgroScapeLab Quillow"), but also new modeling approaches for an improved understanding of the long-term development of soil landscapes.

Marijn van der Meij will take up a position as an academic assistant (tenure track) on modeling earth surface processes at the University of Cologne on 1 January 2021.
