ZALF faces the challenge of generating, managing and analyzing more and more remote sensing (RS) data. ZALF conducts research at the landscape scale and has traditionally been closely networked with other research institutions.
RS data are exploited and shared in a dense network of research activities. Today we (WGs RDM and DIS) organized a workshop to inform interested colleagues about the manifold possibilities of a ZALF Data Cube on the one hand and to start a participatory development process on the other hand. Today is the starting point of a development that will lead to a customized and internationally interoperable system for the management and use of RS data tailored to the needs of ZALF.
25 participants from ZALF program areas expressed interest in participating in the process of building the ZALF Data Cube. We have identified many user needs (e.g., qualified user management) and will consider these in further development. There will be further meetings in smaller groups to concretize the next steps for the integration of data in the ZALF Data Cube.
