(Projekte vor 2018) Kersebaum, Kurt-Christian; Iqbal, Muhammad Anjum Drittmittel Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) (project prior to 2018) completed abgeschlossen

Globally, a yield gap between potential and actually achieved yield exists. This yield problem is more severe in developing countries like Pakistan for various agricultural commodities, while in the developed countries there is stagnation or decline in cereal production. To address this problem, we will use an approach suggested by van Wart et al. (2010) as a standard approach by using dynamic crop modeling for a yield gap analysis and to provide precisely optimum management practices to narrowing the yield gap. That management practices should also preserve the environment and resources. It is already documented that 70% yield improvement could be from precision agriculture / precise management practices. To consider model uncertainty an ensemble modelling with 3 different models will be performed. Additionally the effect of data density/resolution on results will be examined. Second objective will be the “climate change impact on cereal production“. In this part we will analyse the impact of climate change on crop production under current best management practices, to develop adapted practices and then provide adaptation strategies for the farmers, policy makers and for Government to implement these strategies to make a sustainability in the agricultural production. The investigations will be performed for Germany (high data density) and Pakistan (low data density).

AvH Iqbal

2014 Biomasse und Ertrag in Landschaften

keine Auswahl / Liste unvollständig

Alexander-von-Humboldt-Stiftung
