The EU project FarmBioNet held its kick-off meeting in Dublin, bringing together representatives from 19 partner organisations across Europe. Discussions focused on the work packages and strategies to promote knowledge exchange among key actors in agriculture. The project is coordinated by Teagasc in Ireland and runs from January 2025 to December 2027.
On the second day, the team visited a farm in Calverstown that follows a holistic management approach. The farm actively fosters interactions between plants, soils, and animals to enhance biodiversity and sustainability.
Establishing National Networks for Agriculture and Biodiversity
The FarmBioNet project aims to identify biodiversity-friendly agricultural practices and establish national networks in the participating countries. These networks will bring together farmers, foresters, researchers, NGOs, advisors, and other stakeholders in agricultural knowledge and innovation systems (AKIS). The primary goal is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences and to support agricultural businesses in successfully implementing biodiversity-friendly measures.
First National Network Meeting in Germany on 18 March 2025
The first national network meeting in Germany will take place online on 18 March 2025 from 10:00 to 11:30 am (CET). The event, hosted by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture Germany (FiBL), will provide an opportunity to learn more about the FarmBioNet project and explore ways to actively participate in the network.
