Western Rwanda

At the end of January, the DFG research network RESTORE, in which ZALF is involved with two sub-projects (AG SUS: Sieber/Löhr) under the leadership of Prof. Fischer (University of Leuphana), began its work in Rwanda. In addition to exploratory field visits in Western Rwanda, the kick-off took place in Kigali. Day 1 explicitly aimed at scientific actors. Day 2 brought together researchers and actors from policy and practice. Both days were organized in a participatory manner in order to work jointly on visions, strategies and methods, as well as to explore synergies and collaboration opportunities. Dr. Apollinaire William and Valery Ndagijimana joined the ZALF RESTORE team in February. The up-coming field phase is scheduled for June in order to start establishing stakeholder platforms and two living labs based on an in-depth network analysis and further field visits.
