The call for workshops and the call for abstracts of the International Grassland Congress (IGC) 2027 are open. Scientists and experts are invited to contribute their ideas and shape the program of the event. The congress will take place from June 13 - 18, 2027 in Leipzig, Germany.
The 2027 International Grassland Congress (IGC), hosted by the Julius Kühn Institute, the Thünen Institute, and the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF), will showcase diverse aspects of natural and semi-natural grasslands as well as improved grasslands managed at varying intensities, including the cultivation and use of forage crops. Topics will include the sustainable development of on-farm food production, along with the interactions of grassland management with ecosystem functioning, climate change, biodiversity, and society as a whole.
Call for Abstracts:
Submit an abstract until February 1, 2027. For all accepted contributions, abstracts will be compiled in the congress book of abstracts. These proceedings will be provided online to all participants at the beginning of the congress.
Authors who are planning to submit a voluntary full four-pages paper later on, need to submit their abstract until October 2, 2026. Also, authors who expect long visa application processing times are asked to submit their abstract before October 2, 2026.

Call for Workshops:
Organize your own pre- or post-congress workshop at the IGC, specifically adapted to your target audience! The conference has scheduled time slots for the workshops on 13 and 18 June 2027. You can submit workshop proposals until February 1, 2027.
Workshop duration can be defined by the convenor. They are held in person at the congress venue only with no hybrid option. Participation in the pre- and post-congress workshops is free of charge for all registered IGC 2027 participants. Workshop registration will open separately for registered participants.
