Carbon farming – plough impresses Federal Minister of Agriculture Alois Rainer

During a field visit to the HumusKlimaNetz demonstration farm ‘Agrargenossenschaft Groß Machnow eG’, representatives from politics, associations and research get informed about the newly developed carbon farming plough.

Marisa R. Gerriets and Marc Wehrhan from the ZALF working group ‘Landscape Pedology’ explained to Federal Minister of Agriculture Alois Rainer, Joachim Rukwied, President of the German Farmers' Association, and other participants why the amelioration plough ensures sustainable humus formation – and thus makes a substantial contribution to climate protection in agriculture.

The positive yield effects of breaking up compaction zones in the subsoil were also convincingly demonstrated to the participants by means of drone-based remote sensing.
