On May 30, 2016 the certificate of appointment was handed over to Dr. Christoph Merz by the vice president of Freie Universität Berlin, Prof. Dr. B. Schütt. Since 1994 Dr. Merz is cooperating with the working group for Hydrogeology at FU Berlin. Since 2010 he has the licence to teach in the special field hydrogeology at the Department of Earth Sciences.
In addition to lectures and seminars, Mr. Merz is supervising PhD candidates and students for years now. The extracurricular professorship intensifies the close cooperation with Freie Universität Berlin and ZALF and it also strengthens the water competence of the region.
