FAIRagro Community Summit

ZALF coordinates the FAIRagro consortium with 28 German agricultural research partners as part of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI).

The 1st FAIRagro Community Summit took place on June 17th/18th in Berlin. More than 120 interested people from the agricultural community joint the event to learn about the FAIRagro consortium and the progress made since project start, to find out data services and to exchange ideas about optimal research data management (RDM) for agrosystems research – and to get to know the members of the newly elected Community Advisory Board.

The first day focused on community services: the Data Steward Service Centre (DSSC) and its helpdesk, data training courses, insights into the six FAIRagro use cases, status of middleware, metadata standards, data quality and infrastructure developments. At a panel discussion the FAIRagro Spokesperson Prof. Dr. Frank Ewert discussed about the future consortium developments and its integration into NFDI.

On the second day contents were discussed in depth in four side events: Community engagement in recent and future FAIRagro use cases, legal and ethical stumbling blocks, FAIRagro helpdesk networking, and international RDM harmonization in agrosystems research.

We look back on two eventful and insightful days and are delighted with the many interested parties and the valuable input from the FAIRagro community.

More information of the event can be found at www.fairagro.net. The presentations and summaries of the individual programme are published in the FAIRagro Zenodo Community.
