On Saturday, September 16, the nature park administration again invites you to the traditional nature park festival in Buckow. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. the Leibniz Center for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) and many nature park partners and regional stakeholders will celebrate at the visitor information center "Schweizer Haus" (Lindenstraße 33 in Buckow).

There will be various market and information stands of the park's partners and regional suppliers. The Habondia farm, Café Tilia, Buckower delicacies, SOLAWI "Zusane", the Nauck apiary and the Platkow game preserve will be there. Workshops for children will be held by Conny Büxler from Urticahof (felting), Jana Pfarr from Beauty Oak (upcycling workshops with fabrics) and Bernd Schock from the Klotzbeuten project (wild honey bees). Young and old can also try their hand at making fresh apple juice. Matthias Bartsch from the Apfeltraum nursery will be on hand to identify varieties, and the Müncheberg Fruit Growing Research Station will once again be offering tastings. At 12 noon, Sabine Pohl-Peters, Director of the Nature Park, and Prof. Klaus Müller, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, will open the festival with a tour of the market.

Marco Donat, research associate at ZALF within the BMBF funding initiative "Agricultural Systems of the Future", will give a presentation on "Sustainable Agriculture Adapted to Climate Change and for the Protection of Biodiversity" at 1 pm. He will present practical measures to increase biodiversity on arable land. Synergies between protection and use are created through targeted measures that take into account yield zones and areas at risk of erosion. The feasibility of these measures is also being researched and tested with local farmers. ZALF presents other field research projects such as the Mückenatlas (mosquito atlas) and information formats such as the podcast "querFELDein".

At 2 p.m., Birte Böhnisch of Habondia Farm will lead a herbal walk on the healing power of wild herbs and trees, including apple trees, and the band "Almost Charlie" from Berlin will perform live music in the garden of the Schweizer Haus. Matthias Sblewski from the bundtStift school, since 2022 also a nature park school, will set up the low ropes course with children, and shepherd Eik Bonin will bring his landscape conservationists, who can also be petted. Last but not least, Andreas Keller from BUND Müncheberg (Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland e. V.) will present the results of an investigation of the Stöbber at the Swiss House as part of the citizen science project "FLOW". Logistically and technically the Apfelfest is again supported by Buckower Kultus e. V.
