Under the leadership of UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the UN Food Systems Summit will take place on Thursday, 23 September 2021. Prof. Frank Ewert, Scientific Director, is a member of the UN Summit's Scientific Group. ZALF has contributed to several publications and preliminary events, the results of which will now be discussed at the summit.

The aim of the Summit is to advance the sustainable transformation of food systems. Through various pre-events over the past 18 months, the Summit has brought together all UN Member States and many groups around the world - including thousands of youth, food producers, representatives of indigenous peoples, civil society, researchers, the private sector and from the UN - to bring about tangible, positive change in the world's food systems.

The Summit will be the culmination of this inclusive global process and will serve as a platform for both public mobilisation and concrete commitments by Heads of State and Government and other decision-makers to translate the common agenda into political steps now.
