Dawit Ashenafi Ayalew from Ethiopia starts his research stay on 1.November. The duration period will be for three months. Dawit is PhD student of Prof. Dr. Ing. Bořivoj Šarapatka, CSc. (President of the Czech Society of Soil Science) at the Palacký University Olomouc (Czech Republic).
Dawit’s PhD research focuses on the assessment of the potential impact of climate change and future agricultural land management on soil erosion in Ethiopia. The research tries to manipulate the R (rainfall erosivity) and the C (cover) factors by employing the USLE and crop growth simulation models under different climate change scenarios. He will be using a long-term climatic and soil erosion observation data set collected by the Center for Development and Environment of University of Bern and the Water and Land Resource Center (WLRC) from different parts of Ethiopia. Dawit works in co-operation with Dr. Deumlich.
