Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) presented itself with a varied program at the German Farmers' Day 2024 in Cottbus. The projects LeguNet, DAKIS, NatApp, EROSPOT and SynAgri-PV presented innovative solutions for soil and climate, erosion control and agri-environmental measures as well as the dual use of arable land.
The German Farmers' Day took place on June 26 and 27 in Cottbus. The event is the annual general meeting of the German Farmers' Association. About 900 people, including delegates from the German Farmers' Association and invited guests, gathered in Brandenburg to discuss pressing issues in agriculture.
ZALF presented itself with its own exhibition space and a varied program at an accompanying exhibition organized by the Brandenburg State Farmers' Association:
- The Legume Network (LeguNet) provided information on opportunities and strategies for the cultivation of legumes in Germany.
- The DAKIS, NatApp and EROSPOT projects presented erosion control and agri-environmental measures via (smartphone) apps.
- SynAgri-PV showed the possibilities of dual use of arable land for solar energy and crop production.
- Throughout the event, visitors had the opportunity to learn more about living labs. In this type of research, science and practice work closely together to find solutions to social and environmental challenges.
Several politicians visited the ZALF exhibition space, including Brandenburg's Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke, Axel Vogel, Brandenburg's Minister for Agriculture, Environment and Climate Protection, Joachim Rukwied, President of the German Farmers' Association, and Henrik Wendorff, President of the Brandenburg Farmers' Association.
