Aim: Support of free access to scientific information on landscape research by providing an enlarged open access repository. Background: Landscape research is an extremely interdisciplinary field of science. For being able to become acquainted with the available and
growing knowledge scientists do not only need information about published knowledge, but also continuously up-to-date information
about current research activities, recent results of research as well as a central site for core information and an interpreted
and growing terminology. Results: In cooperation with the "Internationally Association of Landscapes Ecology" (IALE) the "Leibniz Centre for Agricultural
Landscape Research" (ZALF) develops a topic oriented website: "openLandscapes" - a "living" information portal
with an open access approach. This means, that for both high-quality and up-to-date input of information and for quality control the
users of the website are eminently integrated. All information in "openLandscapes" is well structured and clearly arranged
and therefore easily accessible.
"openLandscapes" provides information about up-to-date research activities and offers the possibility to build up a Wiki with
landscape-related content. In the future data repositories of landscape research (e.g. for developing and validating models) should
complete the offer. URL: http://www.openLandscapes.org Cooperations
