Understanding the relationships between spatiotemporal patterns of soil properties and processes is a prerequisite for predicting the effects of climate and land use change on landscape functioning. Soil landscape modelling applies statistical and process-based models in order to describe these relationships.

Our research in soil landscape modelling focuses on the topics:
Another focus of our research is landscape ecological modelling, since our modelling techniques represent a key approach in quantitative landscape ecology and conservation biology. Here, we apply species distribution models to predict the effects of climate and land use change on the spatiotemporal distribution of species and the composition of communities.
