Not only change in climate will determine the future productivity of ecosystems, but also the future changes in land use patterns and ecosystem management may mitigate or enhance negative climate changes.

Research within our group focuses on studying the interactions between climate and land surface processes of regions dominated by managed ecosystems. We are currently working on a modeling system that is able to simulate these interactions. The modeling system will include both land and atmospheric processes.

Our research is organized around three themes:

Linkage between land carbon and nitrogen cycles
Ecosystem productivity of larger regions with heterogeneous land use/management types
Feedbacks between various land use types, associated pollutions, and the atmospheric circulation. more...
