Institute of Landscape Matter Dynamics (House 8)

Contact: Dr. M. Tauschke, Herr R. Fuchs

Purpose

Under ZALF's research concept "NorthCentralEurope 2020", the growth chambers are used to conduct extensive model studies on the mode of functioning, the regulation and endurance of landscape processes. The studies are focussed on the analysis of microbial interactions with plants and microbial contributions to plant biomass production.
(Priority theme 1.6.4: Sustainable design of plant matter production and matter transformations).

Equipment

* 3 plant-growth chambers, type HB/VB 1514 (manufacturer: Vötsch

Selected projects for which studies are conducted in the growth chambers:

  • "Structure, distribution and function of communities of soil organisms for the improvement of soil quality and nutrient utilisation in agricultural landscapes of North-East Germany and Canada" (BMVEL)
  • "Investigations into the survival and germination behaviour of reproductive organs of transgenic potato lines with increased accumulation of soluble sugars and development of molecular-biological methods for their identification" (BMVEL)
  • "Mycorrhization of the cultivated blueberry for its environmentally compatible cultivation on arable sites in the North-East German lowland" (DBU)
  • "Exploration of the interactions between genotypical determination and phenotypical modulation of the virulence of fungal pathogens of the Gaeumannomyces/Phialophora complex on selected cereal species" (DFG)
  • "Microbial, non-chemical strategy for the control of Verticillium on strawberry for market gardening on diluvial sites" (DBU
  • "Techniques for the integrated capsulation of plant seeds, phyto-active microorganisms and additives in biologically degradable polymeric wrapping materials" (Patent aplication)
