Equipment of the Institute of Landscape Systems Analysis
On account of its specificity the Institute of Landscape Systems Analysis greatly depends on high-performance hardware and software, as well as on extensive multi-year time series of ecological measurement data to be able to fulfil the tasks assigned.
For
GIS-related activities and spatial simulations, the Institute makes use of ZALF's centralised computer system in the development and improvement of which the Institute is strongly involved.
... For model validation,
mainly data from ZALF's monitoring programme, data from permanent trials of ZALF's research stations, as well as data from external cooperation partners are used.
... Intensive measurement fields are equipped with climate measuring stations, as well as with soil and plant sensors, and provide the year round time series of high temporal resolution.
... For further elucidating the spectral properties of soils and vegetation to serve as a basis for the more reliable interpretation of
remote sensing data the Institute is performing own supplementary experimental
spectral measurements.
... All the professional and general service staff of the Institute are equipped with
efficient hardware and software specific for their respective tasks which is subject to continuous modernisation.
