Place of the Institute within ZALF's research

Relation of the Institute to the priority themes:

The Institute coordinates the priority theme (1.6.8.)
"Integrating landscape analysis and derivation of multi-functional sustainable land use systems for rural areas" and regards this theme  as its priority subject in the frame of ZALF's research collaboration.

There are further close linkages with the themes:
"Mesoscale Models of C- and N-fluxes; balance model of soil fertility evolution",
"Soil-water balance and evapotranspiration models for different land-use forms"
"Indicator development for biodiversity; habitat models for selected target and indicator species; methods of GIS-supported landscape structure analysis and potential assessment "
"Dynamic agro- and forest ecosystem models, hybrid model biomass and yield estimation".

In addition, the Institute provides innovative methods of model development (fuzzy methods, neuronal networks,...) for other priority themes, gives them assistance and is actively involved in the conceptual planning of the large-scale landscape experiment.
