Research Programme Design and Coordination

Assistant project management is understood as a permanent process in which the research concept is being continuously improved and the research programme is adequately integrated and implemented (see Research Fields and Priority Themes). To this effect, use is made of an internal research network under which

  • defined targets are consistently monitored,
  • methods are developed (or improved) across the institutes,
  • synergies of inter-disciplinary works are systematically used,
  • resources are purposefully shared,
  • data and models are made internally accessible (in coordination with the Landscape Information Systems Department),
  • results obtained are published (in coordination with ZALF's working group for Publications Management) and transferred in due course.
Furthermore, the Research Coordination Department has been assigned the following tasks:

  • Performing the direct business duties of the Directorate and the Director, respectively, with ZALF's institutes and administration, as well as with institutions in Germany and abroad,
  • Performing management tasks,
  • Follow-up to matters discussed and decisions taken by the Assembly of Members and the Scientific Council, respectively,
  • Preparation of surveys and analyses following respective enquiries from ministries, authorities, WGL etc.
  • Advisory tasks for institutes concerning research promotion,
  • Help in formulating applications for funds,
  • Assistance in knowledge transfer
