The institute investigates how productivity and ecosystem services can be optimized in agricultural land use systems. It develops sustainable management methods. Special focus is on the biodiversity at landscape scale.
Central research topics are:
to quantify the productivity and ecosystem services of agricultural landscapes,
to identify and assess the trade-offs among productivity and ecosystem services and Biodiversity,
to develop solution options for integrating productivity with ecosystem services
We conduct the research in three research areas "Resource-efficient Land Use Systems", "Habitat Quality and Dynamics of Agricultural Landscapes" and "Sustainability Assessment of Land Use Systems"
