The department of Data Provision, within the Agricultural Landscape Data Centre, provides processed, documented and visualized geodata for Landscape Research centrally via standardized services. The inter-institution scientific cooperation is supported in particular by building web-based research platforms and websites (portals). This includes the conclusion of framework, cooperation and license agreements for the procurement of external spatial data and for providing their own data. The conceptual design, the construction, maintenance and further development of the necessary geodata infrastructure is part of the responsibilities of the department.
In close cooperation with the specialized sciences, also from external institutions, new concepts of web-based cooperative collaboration are being developed. Through visualization of planned or already carried out space-related activities in an examination region interdisciplinary cooperation is supported at a very early stage of the research process. The consistent use of a standardized research and geodata infrastructure reduces the overhead for general data provision of research data.
The nature of providing standardized research data and their integration into an international data infrastructure is continued by BonaRes (www.bonares.de) BMBF project. The BonaRes Data Centre is led by the department of Data Provision. The focus of data provision in this sector is on research data from the Soil and Agricultural Sciences in Germany, which are made available via a data warehouse.
